Within Tap2Loyal, the Loyalty tab is a dedicated space where business owners create, manage, and modify their loyalty programs. The card creation flow was a core feature, offering two card types
Stamp cards
Designed for quick adoption and familiarity, mirroring traditional paper-based systems.
Point-based cards
A more flexible and gamifiable format that leverages digital tools to give businesses richer data and control
The main opportunity was clear: technology could make loyalty programs more engaging and flexible. The challenge was that many business owners had no prior experience with digital loyalty tools, so the experience needed to be highly guided and easy to use.
To frame the problem, I started by analyzing the strengths and pain points of traditional stamp cards.
This helped identify the essential elements to keep and where digital solutions could add value.
Industry input:
I interviewed City-Sales professionals who had worked with loyalty programs since before QR codes became common. Their perspective highlighted two consistent needs from business owners: customization and simplicity.
Synthesis:
These insights made it clear that our design should balance flexibility with a no-brainer flow that required little to no technical knowledge.
Instead of presenting business owners with an open canvas, the experience broke down decisions into manageable stages.
This reduced cognitive load and created a sense of progress as the card took shape.
Owners could fully brand their cards through colors, backgrounds, and symbols, while presets offered quick, reliable options that still looked professional.
This approach ensured that even first-time users could successfully create a loyalty card, while giving experienced users room to customize. The result was a balanced experience that prioritized usability without sacrificing brand expression.
Impact
The flow was designed to reduce friction for first-time users and to encourage adoption by making digital loyalty creation feel approachable.
By combining a guided structure with flexible customization, the feature positioned Tap2Loyal as a bridge between traditional methods and modern, data-driven loyalty tools.
